Immersive
interactive
This project combines mythological storytelling, animation, sound, dance and live performance, creating an immersive interactive experience in public space.
The basis of a great deal of mythology involves the notion of empathy, by personifying nature's creatures, we, as humans, learn respect for
our environment and maintain a sense of balance. This project was initiated by the creative producer Kendyl Rossi to celebrate the Lunar year of the Goat, at Federation Square in Melbourne.
Georgie Pinn developed and wrote an animated film based around the eclectic symbol of the dragon. The film is a dialogue free creation story, taken from her
imagination and written in the style of a traditional myth. While the film is played Anna Yen performs in shadow format on stage.
When the film completes the audience are invited on stage where their own shadow drives the movement of the dragon on screen.
Georgie uses full body motion tracking technology and live mixing to composite the audience interaction back into the original scenes of the film.
This video shows some examples of both the narrative, aesthetic and performance that ran on the main stage for 5 nights at Melbourne's cultural centre.
