Centered on Jiangnan folk tune styles, the artwork Mist & Sound adopts representative traditional Jiangnan musical instruments including flutes and ruan, and builds an immersive Chinese artistic atmosphere with freehand Jiangnan landscape imagery. It innovatively reinterprets traditional Jiangnan music through modern electronic folk arrangement. Technically, the project features self-designed pluggable musical instrument modules. Combining Arduino physical sensing with the Unity digital interactive system, the work precisely recognizes users’ simple plug-and-pull operations. Audiences without any musical background can easily participate in Jiangnan folk music creation and intuitively perceive the unique timbres and arrangement logic of different traditional instruments. Through cross-media integration, the work transforms purely auditory Jiangnan rhythms into an operable, participatory and immersive interactive experience, enabling traditional Jiangnan folk music culture to be perceived and appreciated by the public in a brand-new digital form.
