Echo is an immersive audiovisual installation exploring transformation, identity, and the relationship between the human figure and the natural world.

The work is presented through a series of large semicircular projection surfaces arranged around a body of water. The curved forms create an environment that surrounds the viewer rather than functioning as a conventional screen. The animation extends across these surfaces, allowing the imagery to move continuously from one semicircle to another and creating the sensation of entering another space.

At the centre of the work, a fish becomes a human figure named Echo. This transformation acts as a visual metaphor for the movement between different states of being. The fish emerges from the natural environment and gradually takes human form, suggesting a passage between instinct and consciousness, nature and humanity, and the physical world and the inner self.

Water plays an essential role in the installation. The projected imagery is reflected onto its surface, creating a second, constantly shifting version of the animation. The reflection is not simply an extension of the projection. It introduces distortion, movement, and uncertainty, making the image appear to exist between two realities. The viewer therefore encounters Echo both directly on the curved surfaces and indirectly through the water.

The semicircles and their reflection create a visual dialogue between above and below, surface and depth, physical presence and its echo. As the animation moves across the architecture and into the water, the boundaries between image, space, and reflection become increasingly difficult to distinguish.

The title Echo refers not only to the character but also to this idea of repetition and transformation. An image is projected, reflected, fragmented, and experienced again in another form. The work invites the viewer to consider how identity itself can shift depending on the environment through which it is perceived.

Through hand drawn animation, projection, architecture, and water, Echo transforms a physical space into an immersive landscape where the viewer is surrounded by movement and reflection. The installation becomes a space between realities, where the human, the natural, and the imagined briefly coexist.
