95% invisible Original

For thousands of years, we have looked at the night sky and believed that all there is in the universe is illuminated by light. Light with its ubiquitous presence acts as a medium for our empirical observations, therefore delimits our sensory comprehension of the environment. Physicist now claim that for expanding our understanding we need to look at what is hidden from the absence of light, all the forms of matter that do not react with it and stay in the shadows. “95% invisible” is an audio-visual installation inspired by the absence of light. By creating a shadow play it aims to explore how light, shadow, sound and space shapes our sensory understanding and thus the perception of our environment. The sequence of the events in the composition is based on Lorenz and latoocarfian chaotic attractors to add a certain unpredictability, but there are hard-coded events that repeat over the duration of the composition.
