Performance for Rhubarb Festival of remixed Iranian folk-songs featuring a gown used as a projection-
surface for graphics that react to the vocalist's voice in real-time.
Produce and direct a live performance of traditional Iranian folk songs blended with contemporary, electronic elements such as sci-fi soundscapes, glitch-tunes and keyboard riffs. A main artistic feature of this music show is the innovative incorporation of a giant 10-feet tall white gown worn by the lead singer that serves as the projection surface for sound responsive generative graphics that react to the singer's voice in real-time.
This project asks: How do West Asians imagine their past in the future? How are our traditions, rituals and culture disseminated 100-150 years from now? In a world where technologies such as reactive light and "smart materials"" embedded into clothing are commonplace. I think the artistic possibilities here are endless, and Sabeh Eshgh is my first attempt that discovering the answer.
