DIMENSIONS: Width 110cm x Depth 110cm x Height 400cm MATERIALS: Stainless steel, LED, PC sheet with one-way mirror This sculpture is located in a park along the Qinhuai River in Nanjing, proximity to the residential communities. Due to the rapid development of many Chinese cities, the design of many residential buildings looks quite similar. People's understanding of home is no longer what it used to be, and the buildings in communities are monotonous rather than diversified. In terms of this sculpture, I would like to animate the space and remind people of their memories of home using lighting. From the visual sense to the spiritual exploration, people can feel the warmth from the old houses and create a poetic dwelling. It reflects the surrounding environment during daytime, and forms an inward space with the changing lighting at night.This works strives to draw lighting into the creation of public art, thus creating a new expression mechanism with the properties of light and new materials. Instead of being a tool to illuminate the sculpture merely, lighting is an essential part of artistic expression.
