This project represents an evolution in my video mapping practice. Moving away from traditional two-dimensional building facades, this work directly responds to the canvas of this competition. Because parts of this given structure are positioned at a 45-degree angle, >Translucence< provides a unique sense of depth and a side perspective that goes beyond a flat surface. My core concept is to make the geometry of this specific structure both visible and audibly tangible, bringing the very interior of these fundamental forms to life.
Visually, I transform the physical cubes into translucent bodies. Rather than simply illuminating their opaque surfaces, the mapping creates the illusion of penetrating the outer shell to reveal an inner structure. By deconstructing the given geometry into illuminated wireframes and mesh structures, the abstract forms are taken apart and made experiential. The audience is invited to look inside the shapes and not just their surface.
This visual exploration is inextricably linked to the acoustic experience. My creative logic relies entirely on the sonification of forms. The contours and vector lines of the given shapes are directly translated into audible frequencies using oscilloscope music techniques. The exact geometry of the provided structure dictates the generated sounds, from which I composed a cohesive musical piece.
Ultimately, this artwork is a pure concentration on form. It does not merely project light onto the given canvas, but breathes acoustic and visual life into the geometry itself, allowing the audience to truly experience the shapes.
