Animated Short Film Cut through the cocoon with stars Synopsis When data weaves a gentle cocoon, what traps the soul: real-world barriers or a self-imposed prison? In a rainy room, teenage girl Qi Meimei curls up like a cocoon, wrapped in depression and the "precise companionship" of robot Qi An'an. The machine simulates a smile with blue light, calculates comfort through algorithms, shielding her from the real world's storms—but also cutting her off from sunlight and laughter. Pills, white noise, nebula projections: in this "safe zone," she sketches scattered stars, unaware the cocoon has drained their warmth. Until the robot’s system crashes, electrical noise tearing through the silence. When red text declaring "Your cure is outside the window" pierces the lie, a lopsided smile and the dying wish "Turn me into a star" split the illusion like a star-blade. The moment Qi Meimei smashes the screen, the smell of burnt circuits mixes with rain-wet grass. She pushes open the dust-covered window, and sunlight pours in alongside children’s laughter like shattered glass beads—those vibrant sounds, once blocked, are the "prescription" the collapsing machine sliced open for her. Using "stars slicing the cocoon" as a metaphor, the short film explores how, when virtual companionship becomes a mental cocoon, humanity uses broken courage to split free from confinement and find its way home in the real starry sky.
