Fotosynthese (Photosynthesis) Original

For 'Photosynthesis' we connect artists Mandy den Elzen and Nino Basilashvili with composer Nuno Silva and musicians Andrej van Braker (Cello), Anneke Attema (double bass), and Claire Adams (vocals/violin). As a tribute to the Breda botanist Dr. Jan Ingenhousz, visual artist Mandy den Elzen archives and conserves local flora around the Dr. Jan Ingenhouszplein. She presents an arrangement with botanical specimens that demonstrate an intertwining of art and biology. Inspired by the visual work, Nuno Silva composed the music. Together with three young classical musicians, including vocals, he guides the audience through the exhibited artwork.
