The Immersive Performance “Classics: Mountain and Sea” is a experiment of implementing live audio-visual and dancing performance into digital art exhibition. The performance entrusts the creator’s imagination and perception of ancient civilization. Rare and exotic beasts, mountains and rivers, and myths of ghosts and monsters are ancestors' imaginations of the initial state of Chinese civilization, and are the original records of man's observation of the world. The work uses situational perception and experience, transforming visual senses into emotional resonance, allowing the audience to dialogue with chaotic time and space in a flowing space. "what contained by the earth, between the six directions and within the four seas, illuminating it with the sun and the moon, aligning it with the Polaris and stars, and timing it with the four seasons", the work expresses the beasts and wonders of the Shanhaijing through immersive digital interactive art, using abstract generative forms to simulate the illusory world with algorithms, interpret the mythological motif from the modern perspective, explore the laws of creation, the death and life of all things, and establish the space-time contrast between reality and illusion, ancient and modern. The audiovisual tension of the work in digital technology, with dynamic projection devices and AI algorithms, has achieved innovative breakthroughs across spaces and fields. The interpersonal communication in the interactive process, and the highly artistic concentration of non-line physical performance, all of the works revolve around one core, which is the common human emotion. With the help of metaphor, through highly ritualized suggestive body movements, carefully designed guiding interaction links, symbolizing freehand digital visual background, breaking through the limitations of real time and space and the shackles of inertial thinking, and breaking the concretization. The so-called live experience of seeing, listening, touching, smelling is not a superficial sensory experience, but a trigger to initiate deep emotions.
