Drawing on Barbara Kruger's visual language and Lynn Skordal's collage style, This project uses poseNet and ml5.js to enable the machine to randomly place elements on arbitrary parts and generate different styles based on learning different poses and recognising different parts of a person. Neural style transfer and char-rnn, etc. to train machine models to process and generate more styles. The purpose is to create different surreal images with me as the main character and me as the subconscious leading. Surreal uses uncensored recording of thoughts and images in an "automatist" expression.
This "unconscious thought process" and "infinitely specific style of art" shares similar ideas and ways of creating art with the unconscious creation of machines that learn deeply to embrace automatism. Given a pre-existing style, the computer converts an incoming video or camera-shot image into the interpreted style. The data altered or computed by the computer through the revolutionary network in this process can be viewed as an automatic but unconscious thought process of the computer. The process of how the attributes of the original file data are selected, matched and processed and the attributes of the generated file data can be considered the unconscious thoughts of the computer.
Then after being randomly fed by me with collage style based surreal paintings with me as the main subject, depending on the different poses taken, how the machine creates, thus reflecting on the meaning of the unconscious in the machine. This is the original intention of this project.
