The name of the work:
The Fabric
Introduction:
Inspired by the theme of the festival, we propose to explore the concept of the birth of art from a blank slate, tabula rasa. We transform an object into a total installation, dedicating it to the memory of the recently deceased artist Christo Yavashev and reinterpreting his approach to creating hypertrophied art objects from existing buildings around the world.
Main idea:
The building serves as a backdrop where images of China's cultural heritage, historical storylines from animation, and changing states are presented in front of the audience behind the scenes. The house becomes one large stage set, where the drama unfolds from its original form to complex
metamorphoses of mood and imagery.
Approach:
The story is built on the principle of increasing complexity in interacting with the object - from simple forms of interaction between the canvas and architecture, and its transformation - to recognizable cultural images. It progresses from the classical CGI production pipeline to neural network-generated
visual content. This journey is accompanied by morphing textures and physical properties of fabric canvas.
