Entitled "Like", this art installation references social media icons and combines transparency and video projection. Inspired by digital culture, Philippe Safire often appropriates pop culture iconography. With this piece, the artist has carved a pixelated heart out of plexiglass. The projection takes the shape of a fissure—sparkling continually with colored squares and typography. Safire blends emotions and technology, alluding to the ecstasy humans feel for digital experiences. "Like" emerges from the exhibition space as a poetic image of the digital particles reaching to the core of the human body. Philippe Safire extends his exploration of the intrusive presence of digital technology in our existence.
