The project Light-scape formation is a constructed landscape, presented as an exploration through material manipulation and light movement. The project is a visual and sound installation in a space with limited light source. The installation is composed of light gels suspended horizontally on different levels close to 3 of the walls in the space. In between those levels, we are incorporating LED light strips. The virtual image created by the shadows of the light gels and debris gives us the illusion of a natural landscape. The movement of the work is created by the slow transition of turning on and off one LED after the other. We are interested in the transformation of our surrounding environment by the movement of the light as it creates a surrealistic landscape that is evolving through colour and texture. In our practice-based research, we recreate the complexity of the digital image by the use of simple means and materials. Our work explores the vanishing points of different notions: physical and digital, imagination and reality, motion and stillness, culture and individuality, representing the communication and the tension between their forces. We investigate the physical experience and the fictional imagery through different mediums. Our works are constructed environments made from multiple components visually transformed through the refraction and the movement of light. At this stage of our research, we are interested in a kinetic event as a durational happening, questioning our relationship to the land and more importantly the essence of belonging. We are interested in the natural landscape and its political and visual interpretations. Our research explores post-human and post-nature conditions in relation to our philosophical, ethical and political understandings.
