Our breath is an instrument of deep connection with our physical body, and it is an honest communication as it is the fuel for the voice, body, and mind.
Feel the breath is a multi-sensory interactive installation that features bio-sensory technology to digitise the breathing rhythms of the person and intricately express them in the form of motion graphics and the subtle movement of fragrance mist.
When inhaling, motion graphics are generated according to the length and rhythms of the inhale. When exhaling, motion graphics shown on the panel will subtly transform into the release of fragrance mist.
This is a portrayal of the connection between the digital and physical world. Poetically, this artwork is an aesthetic presence of the person breathing. Also, When people are being closed to someone, we would hear their breath. Or when people have physical contact, have a deep conversation together, or even watch emotional movies or sing together, their heart rates and respiratory rhythms subconsciously synchronise. Therefore, this project explores how digital data creates the presence of the physical body in the form of sensory cues and how visitors feel physically connected to the person breathing without actual physical contact or even not in the same place.
