Description:
Plant blindness is an informal form of cognitive bias, defined in its broadest sense as the tendency of humans to ignore plant species. However, plants have a rich perceptual capacity, just like people, and consciousness is not only the exclusive domain of people, but plants also have the same rights to development and equal voice as people. This work aims to recognise and respect the rights and consciousness of plants, taking their optics as a starting point, and to explore whether the introduction of future technologies in the age of intelligence will allow plants to have unlimited possibilities of evolution.
Based on research into plant intelligence, the installation converts the micro-currents of plants into music, the level of which changes according to the plant's perception of its environment, and uses the language of music to express the plant's perception and consciousness, thus establishing a platform for equal communication between plants and humans. The installation also uses the viewer's brain waves to transform them into natural sounds, aiming to show the changing and harmonious relationship between the human and the plant, and to discuss whether the evolution of the two can complement each other. Secondly, with the real-time data provided by the plants, the process of evolution is simulated and the possibility of evolutionary manifestation is explored in the same way as plants.
