Pigeon Party is an audio-visual, inter-specie essay based on head bobbing, the infinite monkey theorem, word play, and experimentation. Pigeon Party’s central apparatus, two pigeon jockeys spinnin’ on a pigeonhole, attracts pigeons, video captures their behavioral performance and records sounds from their feeding patterns. Like the infinite monkey theorem, if pigeons were convinced to peck on a midi pad, surely they would produce something recognizably rhythmic and that if overseen could be mixed into an electronic beat. And without changing the tempo of their beat patterns one could investigate whether pigeons bio-mechanically dance to the rhythm of their own drum. They come, they fill, they dance, they leave.
