«The Migrants» is a multimedia performance and video game created by Atractor Studio. The work is based on a true story of a 2014 bird migration related to global warming. In the tradition of a Tayrona ( indigenous tribe from Santa Marta/ Colombia) traditional ritual, the performer takes the position of a bird and, with the help of a prosthesis and sensors, controls its movements within its flock and accompanies it on its journey from Canada to Colombia. In conjunction with the performance, the migrants is a public education project where interactive structures can be built using rapid prototyping techniques to change one's perception of the body.

Due to global warming, in 2014 the Golden Warbler faced storms on the coast of Florida, which used to be their main destination. This caused the birds to alter their migratory routes exploring alternative ways through Mexico and Central America before finally arriving in Colombia. Understanding the implications of migration has to do with understanding that the bird, on its journey, is a disperser of seeds, a forest weaver. The bird recovers and feeds ecological niches. Each Environment serves as a contrast to thinking about the complexity of mass migrations and displacements in the human sphere – this migratory route taken by the birds has been of particular importance in geopolitical terms– whose motives involve climatic, industrial, political, and technical causes; but are also displacements in which cultural fabrics and community are produced.

Rethinking the relationships between technology, animal worlds, and culture through art creates the possibility of imagining new scenarios and alternative atmospheres where biodiversity as production of difference recovers its power in a gesture of resistance to our current global scenario.
