MAPPING LE SACRE DU TYMPAN Original

The tympanum is known in architecture, one of the architectural parts that make up the portal of Romanesque churches. Imagined and created especially for the opening celebration of town hall of La Rochelle in December 2019, the project is based on the very particular setting of the last 6 years of renovation of the building itself. A period during which the town hall was partly hidden by scaffolding. The idea of a fictive renovation of the main outside walls of the building and more precisely the construction of an imaginary new gateway in the centre serves as a guiding theme for the project. About ten paintings were imagined around this notion of a gateway. They were composed with a strong reference to marine iconography in the first part, then inspired by the celestial vault and finally by terrestrial and vegetal elements. All the images were created with my own software developed with the C++ libcinder framework and then mounted in Adobe After effect.
