Intro: Ivona Tau is a Lithuanian new media artist merging photography and computational aesthetics. Holding a Ph.D. in Machine Learning, she harnesses neural networks to craft visions that probe the psychological depth of digital data. Her practice explores how technology reinterprets identity, memory, and the female body—revealing hidden biases in algorithmic workflows. Tau’s pioneering approach involves designing custom AI models and training routines that amplify photographic traditions. By embracing “glitches” as artistic revelations rather than flaws, she reasserts the artist’s agency in an otherwise automated realm. This process leads her to interrogate stereotypes baked into machine-learning systems, particularly those related to femininity and beauty. Ivona Tau's contributions to digital art have been recognized internationally. She has been exhibited widely, including Art Basel Miami Beach, UNTITLED, SCOPE, CAFA, Art Week Shenzhen, Vellum LA, Bitforms, The House of Fine Art, Art Dubai, Bright Moments Tokyo, Museum of Applied Art in Frankfurt am Main, Wroclaw Contemporary Museum, Sotheby’s New York, Christie’s New York and many more. Her work has been acquired by ZMK Museum of Contemporary Art in Germany & Francisco Carolinum Linz in Austria.
