About
Max Anish Gowriah is a multidisciplinary artist from Mauritius working across drawing, painting, animation, photography, and fashion. His immersive works explore identity, transformation, and emotion through rhythm, color, and movement. Over the past few years, he has developed a distinctive voice through thousands of drawings, frame-by-frame animations, and large-scale projections that invite viewers into poetic and layered worlds. His process is instinctive, emotional, and grounded in storytelling. He studied fashion design at Polimoda in Florence, where he refined his visual language by merging draping, drawing, and photography into cohesive narratives. After returning to Mauritius, he began creating immersive experiences that feel like portals into the unconscious. His work includes hand-drawn animations projected across five walls, domes, and public buildings. One of his dome animations has toured internationally. he presented more than 6000 drawings through exhibitions and animated works. Each animation is drawn by hand, frame by frame, often completed within intense periods of focus. He sees technology as a tool that allows him to experience his work in new dimensions, not as a medium to perfect but as one to play with. Through movement, light, and sound, he creates environments that feel alive, fragile, and deeply human. He continues to explore new ways of mapping stories and emotions into space, inviting others to step into his world and feel something real.
