Intro: Roger Ng Wei Lun (b. 2001, Malaysia) is a New Media Artist based in Singapore. He graduated from Nanyang Technological University Singapore, School of Art, Design, and Media. His work usually takes the form of moving images, installation art, and speculative objects. He explores diasporic experiences in post-colonial contexts examining culture as a dynamic system of ever-evolving symbols. Utilising New Media, he seeks to demythologize and deconstruct the intricate layers of the unseen, including narratives, materiality, and spirituality, which shape our societal existence and identities. Through exploring the animal representations and political powers embedded in local mythologies and urban stories, Roger Ng reflects on his diasporic identity and the sentiments of community, belonging, continuity, identity and cultural linkage. Growing up in Malaysia’s multi-racial society, his aesthetic embodies the intemporal transmission of myths, icons, and cultural motifs across diverse traditions in Malaysia. His works have been showcased at art exhibitions and digital art screenings including Selasar Sunaryo Art Space, Filamen Gallery, Visual Arts Centre Singapore, ArtScience Museum Singapore, Indonesian Contemporary Art and Design 14,DEMO Festival 2025, IMMERSIO 2023 & 2024, J+ Digital Art Shuffle Show 2024, City Digital Skin Art Festival 2024, ADM Graduation Show 2024, Ars Electronica Festival 2023, and NTU Global Digital Art Prize 2022.
