Intro: Liu Shuai is a Chinese artist currently residing in Cologne, Germany, and Beijing, China. His primary focus is on digital media art, where he pushes beyond traditional boundaries to explore independent and diverse network spaces. Liu's work incorporates various digital media—such as audio-visual, images, videos, 3D animations, video games, experimental films, and of course AI tools which is his main domain of research and artistic creation. He skillfully combines artificial intelligence with artistic creation, using AI not just as a tool but as a collaborative partner in generating new forms of art. This approach allows him to explore the intersection of technology and creativity, resulting in humanities research, aiming to provoke reflection on social and humanistic issues. In addition to his contemporary digital art practices, Liu Shuai also digitizes traditional Chinese painting, blending ancient techniques with modern digital tools. His work bridges cultural heritage and technology, preserving traditional art while introducing it to new audiences in innovative ways. Liu also explores the interaction between online and physical spaces, creating installations and performances that foster new connections between artists and audiences. As a researcher, he co-founded the LUDUS Experimental Game Magazine with colleagues, collaborating with institutions like the Cologne Media Arts Academy and the University of Applied Arts Vienna which initiative aims to enrich academic resources. He holds a researcher position in the Digital Humanities Research Institute at Renmin University of China.
