Intro: CHEN Yizhi (b. 1993) is a contemporary artist currently living and working in China and the UK.As an active young artist in the field of contemporary art, Chen's work spans painting, video, installation. She holds a Bachelor’s degree (2016) and a Master’s degree (2019) in Oil Painting from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Chen is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Art and Design at the University ofWalesTrinity Saint David (UWTSD), UK. Throughout her career, Chen has been recognised with several prestigious awards, including the Inter-youth International Youth Painting Exhibition Creation Award (2018), the Luo Zhongli Scholarship (2019), and the New Star Art Award Excellence Nomination (2020). In addition, she was named a SAP Emerging Artist and selected as one of the "Young Art 100" artists. Her works have been exhibited in numerous contemporary art exhibitions at the Museum of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai Mingyuan Art Museum, Beijing Yue Art Museum, AsiaWorld-Expo, Macao Ox Warehouse and other galleries in China. Her works have also been exhibited at the Fitzrovia Gallery, M P Birla Millenium Gallery, Elysium Gallery and other galleries in the UK. During her doctoral studies, she has presented at several influential international conferences, such as ECAH2022, PCAH2022, The 2nd CCVA Phd Forum 2024, CCEF2024. Her current research explores artists' self-representation through avatars in the social media age, focusing on the practices of Chinese millennial artists. Her works focus on the process of modernisation, identity and self-presentation in the digital age.
