Ofer Smilansky

Intro： Ofer is currently developing and performing “Beastly Tears” a solo audiovisual project combining powerful lights with hard beats. Ofer works regularly with the dance company ‘Compañía Sharon Friedman’ since 2015 as a visual and sound artist. For the company’s two most recent pieces, he created an elaborate composition of video projector lights playing with the notions of horizon, sky and ground generating a space where the audience is expected to lose orientation and landmarks. Ofer is creating site specific audiovisual installations. The latest among them is “Hymn”, a monumental audiovisual laser work in collaboration with Antoine Goldschmidt Based on Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Hymn of Cherubim, it associates the harmonic purity of the voices with the almost tangible intensity of lasers. His recent projects also include ATK! an audiovisual duo that uses light to mold buildings into textures and volumes, Angie Schaeffer, an abstract weird pop band and Danski, a long time collaboration with musician and visual artist Idan Shimoni.
