S > A < S Project by Bill Zhou& Bobby Xu, 上海视觉艺术学院(Shanghai Institution of Visual Arts) 2018.11 - 2019.1 简介： 一切事物构建于网络之上，我们都是复杂关系的综合体。蚁群社会既是一个网络，蚁群的行为塑造了这个网络，当我们将蚁群放入一个人造系统时，合成器模块的声音被三个独立的蚁群行为所操控、影响。多个合成器形成了一个能够反映蚁群行为的音景。 Statement: The complexity of human being! We have complex bodies, complex minds, complex feelings; We have complex society, networks, desires. Mother Nature will change. How are we going to sense things or make meanings out of data flow? My art practice is about experiments of complexity or a drama of social dynamics. I have been exploring the collaborative behavior of elements which constitute the system. My works investigate the interactivity between living organisms and electronic systems. The installation here, is an experiment, speculation of the complexity in the new Mother Nature. How could some simple units work together to show the complexity of the insect behavior? How could electronic systems be integrated into living ant colonies? How could we human sense this complexity? I invite you to join this drama of social dynamics. The complexity of things! PS: About the title, A(Ants) within S(Speakers), ’<‘ means to expand the behavior of ants, to be perceived in different ways.
