digital art
The sound sculpture Mossphone is a hybrid, interface that enables a dialogue between an alienated “natural world” and human beings; moss, toxic particles and a digital apparatus of wires, antennas, and algorythms that sound out the radical changes on a planetary scale.
It is a speculative way to approach, sense, and think-with moss. It is part of a transdisciplinary research project on indicator species, species as interfaces to sense their environment. Part of a collaborative performance / project called Living Instruments (CH-UK), since 2015. In 2017, I continued a a field research at a crossroads between land and media art in an Ars Bioarctica Residency in the SubArtic Circle, within the northen Finnish Sami land in Kilpisjärvi (FI).
In 2018, it being exposed in La Gaîté Lyrique (Paris, FR), also at HeK (Basel, CH) and LABoral (Gijon, ES) as part of Ecovisionaries. Performed at Cafe OTO(London, UK), at the closing ceremony in Darmstadt (DE), in LeBourg (CH) & PoleSud as part of NODE Festival, and Kunsthalle Zurich (CH) for 100 Ways of Thinking.
