Response Traces Original

Response Traces is an installation that attempts to connect a grandson with his grandfather. The typewriter used by grandfather is endowed with self-typing function. It automatically generates poems about the growth of the grandchild composed by grandfather. By reading those poems, grandson comes back to the slice of life lived with his grandfather, and responses at the other side. An electric unit heats up the keys to stamp words onto thermal paper  to highlight warmth and affection. The outcome of the installation bear witness to the story and love between grandfather and grandson.
