Set in an enclosed space between dream and reality, the film follows a lonely young man. Through fantasies about his neighbor and the visit of a mysterious astronaut, he pursues spiritual freedom amid the revival of life and the absurdity of existence.
Drawing inspiration from the traditional Chinese solar term, it uses the metaphor of spring thunder waking hibernating creatures to symbolize the inner awakening of modern‑day people. Rendered in a raw, vibrant hand‑drawn style, it blends surreal symbols including flies, tree frogs and astronaut helmets with oppressive domestic spaces such as black‑and‑white checkered dining tables and closed doors.
The short explores loneliness, voyeurism and existential nihilism, examining how human beings achieve self‑redemption within fragmented subconsciousness.
