Interactive Design
The work “light dismember” mainly uses the Processing interactive program to coordinate with Kinect motion capture equipment and projector equipment. Based on the capture of the skeleton information of the interaction, the pre-made abstract light image matching is projected on the whole body of the interaction, which causes the impression and experience that the light has dismembered the human body and the strange inner matter (defined as spiritual) has been poured out.
The whole device can automatically identify the situations of people /no people/multiple people; in the case of no interaction, the device will cut a red line vertically of the surgery chair to coordinate with the seamless circulation of the original sound work ABO_Loop.
Once the device identifies that there is a man on the surgery chair, the program will automatically terminate the previous circulation mode; the image will start playing; Kinect will activate the skeletal recognition, and the bone data will be returned to the program to control the size and location of the image in order to ensure that it matches the shape and movement of the interaction.
When the device recognizes multiple people (which is not allowed in the interactive settings of this work), the image will stop playing and the red line will reappear again, returning to the previous circulation state.
No matter when the interaction finishes the experience and leaves the seat, the image will immediately terminate and return to the previous circulation state.
The Purpose and Significance of the Work:
The work is set in an unknown surgical space with a sense of fear and weirdness, but visually reduces the fear factor. The "scalpel" transforms itself into a fluid and unpredictable light in the form of light. With the lead of the light, the interaction will see the tear and emerging. It aims at exploring people's inner spirit with abstractions and symbols and trying to lead people to think: it turns out that we have a huge and rich space for ourselves; in the age of the social Internet, more energy is being devoted to finding out from the outside than to finding out from the inside; if there’s a sudden departure from the mainstream and the crowd, people will feel panic and unease. The work forces to cut on people in order to show them the known and the unknown, the surface and the hidden, and almost violent "cutting" within their sight.
