I have always struggled to describe the sense of beauty that I get from water in all the forms it appears in our life.
As a child, I marveled at the unpredictable, radiant reflections on the bottom of a pool, the turbulent endlessness of viewing the sea from an airplane, or the thought of pitch-black depths filled with unexplored wonders and unfamiliar, mysterious creatures.
With this work of mine, I yearned to capture various aspects of this fascination from my youth.
While further conceptualizing this vision, however, it became clear to me that the actual focus of this work lies in the mesmerizing dualities found when engaging with water, whether viewing only a tiny droplet or a vast ocean.
Water can be majestically beautiful without having any defined shape; it is broadly explored, yet still remains deeply mysterious. Its steady flow is soothing, yet energizing at the same time.
Radiance contrasting the abyss. An essence of our thriving, not to be taken for granted.
To recreate and embed these concepts in my work, I incorporated recognizable elements like animals to evoke a sense of familiarity, while putting them in contrast with visually abstract and stylized effects that almost resemble natural and organic formations, yet still feel otherworldly.
