This short film centers on three characters who run throughout the work—Xu Rong, Xie Jio, and Jin Ji. It unfolds their dream worlds while presenting a year-long experiment in which algorithms and artificial intelligence were used to generate evolving “identity factors” for each of them. Through the narrative framing of dreams, the work introduces the overarching concept of identity morphing.

In the context of rapidly advancing media technologies, the cost of splitting one’s identity has become increasingly low. Within anonymous cultures and media carriers such as the internet, individuals continuously acquire new personas, gradually becoming immersed in fabricated identities. The work ultimately asks: are we truly aware of the pervasive spread of identity nihilism?
