The theme of this project is cyberbullying. With the popularization of Internet social interaction and the diversification of users' age groups, the phenomenon of cyberbullying is becoming increasingly common. This project aims to explore the widespread nature of cyberbullying and the persistent psychological harm it brings through 3D narrative techniques. The animation borrows the concept of "player perspective", allowing the audience to experience the verbal abuse and bullying behaviors in the online world in an immersive way. It uses the form of martial arts confrontations to metaphorically represent verbal attacks, and defeating the opponent symbolizes the "victory" of cyber bullying.
On the philosophical level of animation, the work introduces the image of "Inferno", symbolizing the endless predicament of cyberbullying - once trapped in it, it is hard to escape. If one cannot take the initiative to break free, they will fall into endless mental torture. The animation takes "shadow" as the protagonist, metaphorically representing another identity of each of us in cyberspace, that is, the virtual self.
This project also focuses on the role of social platforms in this phenomenon, exploring the significant responsibilities that their management mechanisms and algorithms bear in fostering or curbing cyber violence. The target audience consists of users who are active on social media on a daily basis, mainly including teenagers and adults.
To enhance the interactivity and immersion of the exhibition, the animation will be presented in an immersive scene format at the British Film Institute (BFI) cinema. As one of the most influential film and cultural institutions in the UK, BFI is committed to promoting the development of film and television art and public education. Its cinema space provides an excellent platform for showcasing works that are both thought-provoking and artistic. This project, through this professional setting, guides the audience into a transitional space where the virtual and the real interweave. In the dual impact of vision and emotion, it triggers deeper reflection and resonance
