🖥️ The Genuary 2024 Day 6 prompt is screensavers!
A screensaver is a computer software program designed to display a sequence of images or animations automatically when the computer has been idle for a prolonged period. Originally, screensavers were primarily used to prevent screen burn-in (also known as "image retention"), which occurs when the same image is displayed for too long, causing it to become permanently etched onto the screen. This was particularly common with CRT (cathode ray tube) monitors.
With advancements in technology, modern displays such as LCD (liquid crystal display) and LED (light-emitting diode) screens have significantly reduced the risk of screen burn-in. As a result, today's screensavers are more often used to showcase personal interests or provide entertainment. For example, users might choose dynamic landscapes, starry skies, animal videos, or pieces of art as their screensaver content.
Genuary 2024 is a global creative coding challenge held every January, aimed at encouraging individuals to create through code and algorithmic art. Each day features a new theme, and participants are encouraged to interpret and express these themes freely, with no restrictions on style or form.
