"My Poem." is a digital art piece that I created in 2021, and during the creative process, I utilized the AI poetry writing system developed by Tsinghua University's Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, known as "Jiu Ge." Initially, I provided it with a series of elements often sung by human poets, such as sunshine, rain, rivers, and life, to inspire its creativity. A line from "Jiu Ge," which reads, "Light is a seed, flourishing where it is buried," made me feel a unique sense of romance. I began to contemplate that we can shift from a relationship of servitude, where one is "used," to a partnership of equality.
Based on this poem, I constructed the imagery space of poetry in the form of generative art and interactive installations. Among them, the involvement of light-sensitive sensors perfectly captured the imagery of "life growing in the land where light is buried." In 2022, AI emerged in human society in a god-like manner, becoming the hottest topic of the moment. Is artificial intelligence a tool? Is it life? Is it an enemy? Or is it the future ruler? Amid the AI frenzy, art faces challenges in aesthetics, subject displacement, and an existential crisis. However, my collaboration experience with "Jiu Ge" still fills me with hope for the future of art. "My Poem." is a tribute to life. But I can't help but ponder, when humans praise the sun, mountains, and rivers, it's because they provide the conditions for life. So, who should artificial intelligence praise?
