This interactive installation explore the concept of the Neural Syntax by György Buzsáki. Using language as a metaphor, shows the hierarchical relationship between different brainwaves, referencing cross-frequency modulation and phase-locking.

Letters form words. Words form sentences. Sentences form paragraphs. In the brain, neuronal rhythms form syntax rules through cross-frequency modulation, creating a hierarchy where slower rhythms adjust the amplitude of faster ones.

The audience can turn the knob to control both the different brainwaves and the various layers of the text. The slowest brainwaves correspond to the sentence layer, the middle layer of brainwaves corresponds to the words, and the fastest brainwaves correspond to the letters. By adjusting these layers, the audience can decode the text order and observe the relationship between the text and brainwaves.
