The "Jeu de Jean et Alice" is an open-air historical re-enactment created in Wavre in the 1950s. Through a series of tableaux, it evokes the birth of the Charter of Communal Freedoms and Franchises in 1222. Every five years, more than 300 local amateur and professional artists, including actors, choristers, musicians and dancers, take part in this show, which has become part of the town's traditions.
To mark the 800th anniversary of the Charter, the show is getting a makeover.
The stage direction was entrusted to Luc Petit, and was enhanced by video mapping created by Glitch prod.
The video mapping was projected onto a 20-metre-high structure designed for the occasion. Mapping not only evokes different periods in the history of Wavre, but also allows the artists to travel from one environment to another.
