Through time and space, EXIT is the port between two points. It is not only the vent of this place, but also the entrance of the other end. Through the EXIT, we complete the transformation of space, fulfill the conversion of identity, accomplish the breakthrough from the daily routine, and conduct the escape from the material world.
We were used to living in a box built by self-experience. The outer shell of the box is infinitely thin and hard, smooth, uniform, and dense, with no gaps in sight. The inner wall of the box is covered with glorious textures, recording your favorite colors, scenery, filters, symbols, fonts... everything is comfortable and satisfying. Being in the box makes everyone unable to see or imagine the scene outside.
No EXIT here
Not all exits are obvious. Some unconventional ones need to be found, explored or even manufactured. We are trying to cut the smooth inner wall of this box, drill holes on its glorious textures, chisel out new EXIT, release people from the familiar experience and throw them into the next unknown box.
Invited by XIXI, UFO Media Lab plans to launch the "EXIT" art project in 2020, cooperate with Feng Hao, Guo Xi, Flow-er, WZH.VALLEY, Yu Tongzhou, Anyang, Kanes, 3ASiC, Frankfurt Helmet, Shi Chuan and many other artists and groups. Create an intricate multi-dimensional space. When people passing through the slits, stairs, and passages, the space is constantly multiplying, extending and disappearing in visible and invisible, watching and being watched, and the next exit is concealing in it.
Two giant curved LED screens construct a space-time crack in the front end of the exhibition hall, passing through which the audience will enter a walking path constructed by stairs, passages and corridors. More than a dozen display screens of different sizes are scattered in this intricate path structure. Multiple narrative clues, such as space, image, sound, and path, advance independently and interact with each other. The artists will use the combination of computer-generated imagery and sampling reality, the synergy of visual and sound, to show the audience an immersive experience of different textures in this multi-dimensional structure, and outline the imagination of the unknown EXIT through the work.
