This work is a special effects film of real scenes interacting with virtual characters, with a total duration of 4 minutes and 26 special effects shots. In order to ensure the authenticity of the visual effects images and the visual impact of the fight sequences, the domestic industry standardized production process and processing techniques were introduced during the creation process, from pre-filming, mid-production to post-production synthesis processing, each special effects shot has to go through dozens of process production before it is finally displayed in front of the audience.
The King of Fighters" uses high-precision detailing in the production of digital character models, with more than 300 structural components throughout the body, to highlight the visual realism and beauty of the characters. In the mapping process, a physically-based rendering process (Physically-based rendering) was used to accurately recreate the material texture and texture of the real physical world. In the shooting stage, in order to reflect the actors in the performance process of the eye gaze direction, as well as with the virtual characters in the fight process interaction realistic, the use of "green man" understudy way, and the actors to interact, so as to obtain a coordinated and synchronized performance. This production technique restores the visual effect of the fist to flesh in the action film to the greatest extent.
The "18-degree gray ball and light ball" were used to collect and sample the global lighting and reflection information, and to shoot the ambient lighting to ensure that the virtual characters were rendered and synthesized in a consistent manner with the real environment in terms of brightness and color saturation.
In the synthesis processing stage, because a large number of shots in the pre-shoot used the "green man" stand-in, it is necessary to first remove the "green man" in the shot, and then synthesize the rendered virtual characters. This film uses Nuke synthesis software, which is commonly used in the industry, to greatly improve the efficiency of collaboration between teams and ensure the quality of synthesis. This film uses a variety of composite processing techniques, such as Roto, color matching, screen repair and erasure, lens focus, etc.
