For the past 15 years I have been sporadically but also constantly conducting live sound and visual experimentations with audio processing. In these meetings, which I call “sound performances”, in a generic way, mainly the manipulation of the audio equipment in real time is what predominates in these sessions. For obvious design reasons, which are already part of the industry tradition in the construction of these pieces of electronic sound technology, the control elements of these devices are designed, 80% to be used by the hands or by the gestures made by those hands of the people who execute them. From these first and very simple visions, I thought about “how it would look like” a sound performance, if it were the same hand that controls the equipment that was watching and observing the performance. In this way, it occurred to me to experiment with this concept and I carried out a sound experimentation session with some equipment in a similar way to how I would do it in a place with an audience.
The performance for the camera is based on firmly holding a semi-professional photo camera/camcorder on my arm. In this way, my hand is independent to use it to control the sound equipment.
