Project Description
The power of nature is vast and most indigenous. Thus, I especially love the texture of plants and some organic matter. Through observation, I found that flowers and insects in nature have many similar patterns. Do they possess more relationships with each other? In my research, I created a wonderful ecological future with a combination of insects and plants, and presented it in a 3D animation. It was an unrestrained imagination and an exploration of beauty.
Stage 1
I observed many similarities between plant and insect textures, and I therefore began to imagine and explore more connections between plants and insects. After some research, I discovered that there is a co-evolutionary relationship between plants and insects, which simply means that plants produce toxins to ward off predators, and insects develop mechanisms to resist the toxins produced by plants. This is co-evolution.
Therefore, I envisioned a future in which plants and insects can co-evolve, and there may even be a combination of insects and plants, with characteristics of both.
Stage 2
Subjective collages of biological combinations are less credible and do not match the biological characteristics of plants and insects. Thus more objective factors should be taken into account to simulate a more realistic and scientific combination of plants and insects.
To simulate what future creatures might look like, I combined insect textures on flowers with the help of an image generation website, which uses algorithms that simulate the style of pictures to generate images.
Stage 3
Using algorithms that simulate the result of an insect pattern attached to a flower, I designed the insect and plant combination and created my imaginary future insect and plant combination in the form of a 3D animation.
Stage 4
The 3D animation is timed and lit to simulate a realistic 'sunrise and sunset' and 'spring, summer, autumn and winter', with 1080 degrees rotation animation in 1 minute 30 seconds. In this work, the plant grows from a seed to a mature body, which also becomes an insect that moves around, and then returns to the plant until it withers at the end of its life.
