O for OSC - Notch ABC Original

O for OSC - Day 15
This artwork is an interactive piece with some augmented reality elements. It uses two 360 HDRI images. These images create the virtual scene's lighting and create realistic reflections on the virtual object's surface. Some aspects of the artwork are interactive. The artwork accompanies a mobile application, and they communicate through OSC protocol. It is possible to rotate the virtual camera, the HDRI images, and the virtual object's motion through the application.

The Notch ABC sequence of animations is a result of a 30-day challenge. I pushed myself to create one artwork every day. The challenge was a very intuitive process since I had to develop ideas very quickly. I designed each animation with Notch. As a constraint, I picked a letter from the alphabet, which defined either a technique in the software or a design concept I had to follow. In this series, the real-time aspect of the works was crucial for me. I use many devices to implement interaction into my pieces—for example, Kinect, Leap Motion, various HMDs. In my artistic approach, interaction is essential. I aim to digitalize human gestures to create a more intimate connection between the real and the virtual world.
