On August 23, 2025, an unconventional art healing experience took place at Fotografiska. This was not a traditional performance, but a sensory journey through sight, sound, and smell—a transformative passage of the soul from "broken" to "whole."

Three-Act Narrative

An emotional "roller coaster."

The performance unfolds in three acts—Fragments · Metamorphosis · Wholeness. It moves from restless music to harmony, from movements of struggle and constraint to gestures of self-reconciliation, and from fractured, divided visuals toward completeness, guiding the audience into the inner world of a true soul.

Act I : "Fragmentation"

The performance opens with musician Mizu’s “restless” music, as dancer Ale Musa’s powerful movements resemble shattered butterfly wings, struggling against invisible shackles. Meanwhile, Leon Krykhtin employs AI to generate real-time digital imagery—fractured lines, scattered points of light, and broken geometric forms—that flicker, separate, and recombine on the screen, as if externalizing the landscape of the inner mind.

Act II: "Metamorphosis"

The musical rhythm shifts toward clarity, and the dancer’s movements evolve from restraint to openness, like a gentle preparation before breaking out of the cocoon. In the AI-generated visuals, the tremor of new life in a nest and blossoms emerging from cracks come into view—silent, yet carrying an unspoken dawn. A subtle scent lingers in the air, quietly awakening fragments of subconscious memory within the audience.

Act III: "Wholeness"

Everything builds toward release and reconciliation, as the dancer interprets "rebirth" with powerful physical expression. In the AI-generated visuals, flocks of birds sweep across a deep blue sky, as if the soul has at last rediscovered its inner order and wholeness. In that moment, within the quiet space, tears begin to glimmer.

A Perfect Symbiosis of Technology and Art

Creating a Unique and Unreplicable Audiovisual Experience

图片

Leon Krykhtin

The algorithm designed by Leon Krykhtin acts like an invisible "performer," capturing the dancer's movements, speed, and even emotional shifts in real time, synchronizing with every transition in the music to create unrepeatable digital imagery.

"Every frame is a unique product of the present moment, just like our time and lives—each second is irreplaceable," digital artist Leon explained after the performance.

The entire performance is born of improvisation—AI-generated visuals in real time, the dancer’s spontaneous physical expression, and the musician’s improvised playing. Nothing can be rehearsed or replicated. What each audience member witnesses is a singular, collectively created moment in time.

From "Watching" to "Seeing"
Interpreting Art from a Psychological Perspective

After the performance, Dr. Zhu Xiangkun, Ph.D. in psychology, guided the audience in a profound mental interaction. Participants sat together in a circle, sharing how the sensory journey they had just experienced touched their inner memories and emotions.

"What did you see in this performance? That may very well be a reflection of your inner world," Dr. Zhu gently guided. "Art is a mirror—what it ultimately reveals is ourselves."

One audience shared,  "Throughout the performance, it felt as though the dancer was portraying me. I suddenly realized I had been avoiding truly 'seeing' myself. It made me start confronting my inner thoughts and emotions." Another participant added, "The dancer's struggle reminded me of my own experiences, but the eventual reconciliation gave me hope, along with the courage to accept myself."

Strangers connected through genuine expression, and individual emotions transformed into shared resonance within the collective echo. The space gradually evolved from a quiet venue into a community of kindred spirits.

A Portable Ritual of Transformation

This event created a "portable ritual of transformation"—offering a new perspective to see and confront one’s true self, while also recognizing the possibility of change.

As curator Seven Ma of this event remarked in closing: "Accept what life gives you—learn to embrace rather than resist. Healing is not about erasing scars, but about coexisting with them, and discovering new beauty even in the cracks."

We aspire to continue fostering such inclusive, awakening, and connected spaces, where art becomes a bridge to healing,so that every lonely fragment, on the journey toward wholeness,no longer walks alone.
