Nature Under Construction (Project)

Nature increasingly lacking in urban settings, sick trees that fall in old cities, fertile gardens that are massacred to give way to unhealthy infrastructures, private theme parks meticulously designed to resemble paradisiacal natural sites…

This rather bleak landscape which we, city dwellers, inhabit, has “inspired” us to shape this piece called “Nature Under Construction”.

We have been thinking about it for some time but, seeing how trees are falling in Madrid and once the tragedy has been completed and municipal gardeners struggle to save public trees, we have felt impelled to draw it.

This is how this would be: trees under reconstruction, protected by canvases, lighted, with openings to allow people into the structure if one feels like having close contact with them.

Very basic materials are required for this installation: street trees, recycled canvases and timber from construction sites, any sort of lighting, signs, and little more.

These wonderful illustrations have been created, as usual, by Marta Menacho.
