A gathering hosted by artists CAO Minghao and CHEN Jianjun with their collaborators - architects CHI Xin'an and WAN Li, sociologist LI Jing, ecologist ZHU Dan, and writer Paul Salopek.

Based on their new series of work at the headwaters of the water system, the artists Cao Minghao and Chen Jianjun explore how to reactivate existing resources, especially those in "ruins," through the lens of walking, architecture, ecology, sociology, and research-based art. In doing so, they demonstrate the potential for interdisciplinary exchange and fundamental transformation among participants in the black tent.  

Black Tent Meeting #4 will continue the presentation of work by the artists based on a holistic value system of coexistence that stems from their research in The Ecology of Sands and "Black Beach." This work was first realized within the framework of the documenta 15 in Kassel, from June 18th to September 25th, 2022, as part of their installation Water System Refuge #3, which centered on a series of workshops held in black tents hand-woven by herders.

黑帐篷会议由艺术家曹明浩和陈建军与合作者——建筑师迟辛安、社会学家郦菁、建筑师万丽、生态学家朱单，以及作家保罗·萨洛佩科共同主持。

根据艺术家曹明浩和陈建军的水系源头新作品系列，二人通过行走、建筑学、生态学、社会学以及研究型艺术的视角，探索如何重新激活现有的资源（尤其是“废墟”中的资源），借此展示黑帐篷会议的潜能——即激发参与者之间的跨学科交流，并产生实质性的变革力量。

黑帐篷会议#4 将继续展示艺术家围绕整体性生存的价值系统所做的实践。从《沙化、黑土滩生态学》的研究中获得启发，二人的实践首次以《水系避难所#3》装置的一部分，展示于第十五届卡塞尔文献展（2022年6月18日至9月25日），作品的核心是在牧民手工编织的黑帐篷中举行的一系列工作坊。
