EPIDEMIC

EPIDEMIC is a non-profit organisation that supports international projects combining visual, performing and media arts and science, by fundraising, searching for co-producers and venues, enabling networks of artists and organisers worldwide.

Founder and director of EPIDEMIC, Richard CASTELLI is the curator of several majorinternational exhibitions, including three in Berlin (the last one was Vom Funken zum Pixel at Martin-Gropius-Bau in 2007), four in Shanghai (From Flash to Pixel in 2006, Body Media in
2007, eLandscapes in 2008 and Body Media II in 2017), two in Istanbul (Madde-Işik 1 and 2 at the Borusan Foundation), several presented in France, among others Robotic Art at the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie de Paris in 2014/2015, and five in Italy for Romaeuropa festival.

He is also the producer of several artists (in alphabetical order): Jean Michel BRUYÈRE / LFKs, DU Zhenjun, DUMB TYPE, Ivana FRANKE, GRANULAR-SYNTHESIS, Kurt HENTSCHLÄGER, Ryoji IKEDA, Ulf LANGHEINRICH, Robert LEPAGE / EX MACHINA, Édouard LOCK / LA LA LA HUMAN STEPS – until 2009 –, Thomas MCINTOSH – until 2013 –, Ryuichi SAKAMOTO + Shiro TAKATANI, Rihoko SATO, Shiro TAKATANI, Saburo TESHIGAWARA / KARAS, [The User] – until 2013 –, whose performances are also commissioned in some cases.


He also produced and co-produced several interactive films by Jean Michel BRUYÈRE, Ulf LANGHEINRICH, Robert LEPAGE, Jeffrey SHAW and Sarah KENDERDINE, and Saburo TESHIGAWARA, most of them in 360° 3D stereoscopic and sometimes interactive.

Alongside his activities as producer and curator, Richard CASTELLI is regularly invited to take part in seminars. He did lectures at Paris-La Sorbonne and the universities of Beijing, Créteil,Hong Kong, Saint-Denis, Shanghai, Sydney as well as in several institutions in Istanbul, Firenze, Montreal, Moscow, New York City, Praha, Reykjavik, Saint Petersburg, Taipei, Toronto, Yokohama…
